Journal of Case Research and Inquiry (JCRI), the peer reviewed online publication of the Western Casewriters Association (WCA). The journal publishes teaching case studies, consulting cases, articles, notes, and exercises. Published cases have been on organizations in numerous industries located in several countries, including Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Egypt, Honduras, India, Nepal, Niger, Pakistan, S. Korea, Thailand, and U.S.A. Submissions with cases from all industries and all countries are welcome. Cases address significant contemporary issues faced by organizations and mangers in the areas of business and public administration, nonprofit management, social entrepreneurship, economics, education, and public policy.

(1) TEACHING CASE STUDIES are primarily intended to support classroom instruction, including decision-making and the application of theory and best practices, and may or may not require a managerial decision. Teaching cases are necessarily accompanied by Teaching Instructor Manuals (TIMs) that are not published but may be provided to instructors.

(2) CONSULTING CASES ask the reader to develop solutions to issues faced by managers and organizations, with emphasis on practical solutions over theoretical applications. Consulting cases are accompanied by a detailed Consulting Instructor Manuals (CIMs), also called Consulting Reports, that may be provided to instructors. Consulting cases can be appropriate for a midterm or final exam or other assignments.

(3) ARTICLES are scholarly papers on case research, teaching with cases, and related pedagogical issues.

(4) NOTES are industry, legal, or theoretical analyses or summaries to accompany cases.

Finally, (5) EXERCISES provide a “case like” learning experience in the classroom, and may be associated with, or independent from, teaching cases.

All cases, IMs, articles, notes, and exercises are double blind peer-reviewed by at least two reviewers. Cases may be derived from primary field research, secondary research, or a combination of both. JCRI does not accept fictional cases, nor cases, notes, or articles previously published elsewhere. Case authors are required to obtain release forms, when necessary, from the organizations studied. Because JCRI is an online journal, cases employing multimedia methods and links to web resources are especially welcome. JCRI cases, articles, notes, and exercises are available full-text and free of charge to educators and students. Educators are encouraged to place in their syllabi links to JCRI cases, articles, and notes.

Authors should review the JCRI submission guidelines, and may contact the editor, Steve McGuire, at editor@jcri.org .  For information on the Western Casewriters Association, please visit our website at www.westerncasewriters.org
